Long hang time with Vista

Hi - I upgraded to Vista yesterday and since this time have found that
it takes 5 - 15 seconds to access even a simple web page such as
google. The more complex ones take even longer. I previously had XP Pro
and this was immediate.
The detials of my system are dual processor 2.66, 511mb memory, I rate
at 2.9 on the windows experince rating. I run trend micro as security
)don't know if this is important)...I know that my memory is low but at
this stage I only want to access the internet.
Does anybody know of either a link I can follow that relates to this or
any suggestions on what I can do?
Many thanks for anybody who takes the time to read this.

Re: Long hang time with Vista

One thing may be browser settings. Using Vista - IE7 may have it's
Phishing detection/filter enabled. You may want to check and see if
it's enabled. Also, since this was an upgrade you'll want to get the
latest drivers for your hardware. Especially important in your case is
the Network Interface Card (NIC). Vendor supplied drivers usually
have greater control/functionality than drivers included with Vista.

To check the "Phishing" settings:
Open IE, Click Tools, Internet Options, Advanced (TAB) -scroll
down to the Security Category and you'll find Phishing about 10
entries down the list

Vista with 512MB doesn't sound like fun. I recommend 2GB+ to get the
best out of Vista.
