It's free too, works in Vista, is substantially smaller and faster, and doesn't attempt to install toolbars or extra unnecessary services: http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php It's almost as sophisticated as the full blown Adobe reader, and it does the job for the vast majority of users who just need a PDF reader. It can use lots of languages, it can copy text, search and print documents, etc., just like Adobe. I've been using it for months now, and I recommend it to anyone who doesn't want the bloated Adobe reader. It doesn't need to be installed either - just drop the small executable file in a convenient folder and make a shortcut to it. The first time you run it, run it as an Administrator so it can properly set the PDF file associations. After that, you can just double-click on a PDF file and it quickly opens in the Foxit Reader. -- Happy Holidays! |
