Hi
just wondering I have vista rc1 beta on laptop.

Could you tell me.
I had invitation sent via mail.
I downloaded the vista from MS site. had Product Key sent via mail for
Ultimate.
installed it and activated it (can't remember this one though)

And Vista is working ok for me.

Now when the full version is released and for sale.
will this beta would still work? or I have to buy another KEY for it etc for
updates????.

Could some body explain please?

Tim RC1 will expire on June 1, 2007.

At that time you will need to buy the full version of Windows Vista or
revert to your previous OS.

When the beta copy expires in June 2007 you will need to buy the full
version of Windows Vista. If you don't want to buy Vista, then you will need
to go back to your old operating system. After June the beta will not work.

I better go back to XP now before cluttering it with my stuff LOL.
My laptop is not good enough for Vista too :)
I have got the lowest sytem score.

P4 1.8GHz
Ram 512MB
Nvidia G4 force Toshiba.

It is not just to buy the **** Vista but to buy new computer too :(

I think all the new Windows Versions should come with compatable
Processor+Video card. Every body can afford RAM these days. hehe

XP will do me for next 5-10 years atleast. I have just given up using Win98
last year. HAH.

Unfortunately, while new operating systems are nice to have, it isn't only
the intitial cost of the software that has to be taken into consideration.
It is all the additional things that add to the cost. you may, for example,
have a pc that is compatible in part with Vista's specifications. However,
the video card may not be up to scratch so the first thing you have to
decide is do i buy a new video card. While originally 512MB of RAM was okay
with XP Vista, although it would run on this amount of memory you would
notice a slowing down. So again you have to think of 1GB of RAM or more.

"Vista ready" only means the hardware meets MS's minimum specs. It is no
guarantee that drivers are or will be available from the manufacturer's of
the devices.

If your scanner/printer/tv tuner manufacturer doesn't provide vista drivers
and the XP drivers don't work then you may have to consider alternative
hardware. I have a hauppage USB TV tuner that doesn't have vista drivers and
is never likely to have vista drivers, but that is no real hardship, I
rarely watch tv on my pc anyway. Fortunately my XP printer drivers for my HP
psc 1215 work okay with vista so i can print/scan etc, but i assume HP will
update to vista drivers for this model. I actaully have 4 USB key drives
that won't even work with Vista's bootready application, which is a pain.

managers. The nomination period for January awards has already passed.
Typically one is nominated for help and support for other users. Activity
in the newsgroups is central but maintaining websites like Andre deCosta
does often attracts attention. The archtypical website is Kelly's Corner.
Any activities that help users with MS products can prompt someone to
nominate you.

I suggest that if you want to become an MVP you review

about and think about ways you can lend your knowledge and skills to the
helping of users in these newsgroups.
