Uninstalling WMP

Hi,
When i purchased my laptop last year , a version of windows media player was
installed. But unfortunately, firefox mozilla does not recognise the plugin
associated with this and gives the message "UNKNOWN PLUGIN
(APPLICATION/X-MPLAYER2) when i try to play videos.

In a bid to corect this, i downloaded WMP11 but this did not correct the
problem. So i uninstalled it. However it rolled back to version 10. Now this
is the problem:

1). The current version is refusing to play and gives a message " that the
wmplayer.exe file has a version no 10.0.0.3646 where 11.0.5721.5145 was
expected". So what can i do to correct it or uninstall version 11 completely?

2). As well what plugin or codec will be required to aid video play on
firefox?

Re: Uninstalling WMP

1: Run
%windir%\inf\unregmp2.exe /UpdateWMP
and it'll be fixed up.

2: You can use the ActiveX Plug-in for Firefox and you should be fine.
