| WMP 11 movie playback quality sucks WMP 11 installed with Vista Ultimate. Movies that played great with WMP 10 -- and which look great in other players -- have bands and weird colors and look horrible. Movies were generated from Casio Exilim camera. Would install 10 again of Vista would let me. Microsoft, quit pushing out your beta crap as if it was finished! |

What Beta vista video card driver software are you running ? What happens if you update it from the manufacturer to a Vista signed driver ? | Re: WMP 11 movie playback quality sucks This is the full retail version of Vista Ultimate which I installed on my Compaq nc6220 notebook. I let Vista install whatever video drivers it wanted to, and everything else, including games, looks and runs great. However, the AVIs shot with the Casio Exilim, and even some WMV I have, are awful in WMP 11 but look fine in 10. Those same movies also look bad in Vista's Photo Gallery, for what that's worth. Other video files, shot with a Canon Powershot S3 IS, look great in WMP 11 and Photo Gallery. |

I let Vista install whatever video drivers it wanted You sometimes have to do this manually however. Most of the drivers on windows update are provided by manufacturers, but there's a definite lag between them releasing the latest hardware drivers on their website, and the signed drivers becoming available on windows update. In summary : Grab them from the video card manufacturers website. >to, and everything else, including games, looks and runs great.
