Handling of Album Art in Media Player 12 is a disaster

If I go to a artist from the artist view and then click on Artist the album
art all redraws.

If I go from the Artist view to the album view, you really don't know what
to expect.
When I first go there and album art can be on any album, then after time it
will refresh and then it is correct until you go out of album veiw and back
into it the it does the same thing.

Media Player 11 worked perfectly on this computer with Vista x64.
Media Player 12 is a pain to use on this cmoputer with Windows 7 x64.

I hope I am the only one with this problem?

Are there any way to fix this problem without going back to Vista and Media
Player 11?

Thanks

You are not the only one with this problem. I hate it. Sometimes when just
viewing "All Songs" I'll scroll down and see the same album cover incorrectly
repeated hundreds of times.

Another good one is when I start WMP, it says "Updating media info from..."
because I set it to automatically download info from the net. It crunches
away at my hard drive for hours and then finally finishes. Then just by
closing and restarting WMP it does it again. WTF is it updating? What changed
in the 3 seconds WMP was closed that now it has to crunch my HD all over
again.

RE: Handling of Album Art in Media Player 12 is a disaster

Hi John
The problem is little weird. Firstly try to check if the files that remained
in the music folder are read only. If not then were they playing or in use
during the update. If so then there is a good chance that media info is not
updated in these files. You can remove read only from such files if they are
not already. Then select all files in the music folder at once and right
click then come to properties and then come to details tab and remove album
artist and other data and click apply. Then try to update it again. I also
read about you next problem concerning multiple album arts, i need to say
only one thing that album art is saved one in one folder. If all the music is
in one folder then only one album art will be available for all. If you put
your music album wise as the media player is doing then you will get the
right album art on each album. Hope it solves the problem. One quick note in
the end, defragment your hard drive before album update and close all other
programs and useless services so that the file is not in use even by other
windows services. Hope it helps...
Sorry for multiple posting due to some error in server

RE: Handling of Album Art in Media Player 12 is a disaster

Hey John,

Sorry you are having problems also!

I know what you are saying I can scroll down with the mouse fast and my
albums can be all the same and if I do it again they may be all a the same
but a different album cover.

I just don't know what I will get!

But I do know it is a mess!!!

I did a test, I copied the music library to a network share, and let Media
Player 12 do its mess, and I have the same problem.

I can remote desktop into my XP machine with Media Player 11 and the album
are is find no problems.

Good Luck !!
