Hello
I have read the 'helps' over and over but still have trouble begining to
1-locate music,2-play it, 3- burn it to cd.
Where do I begin?

Many people start by adding music from CDs (a process called Ripping)
which would normally be automatic

If you go to the Rip tab, insert a CD and let media player start
copying the CD, it will create a copy of the music on your PC (usually
in the Documents and Settings/My Music folder for your user account)

There is also information stored about that CD in the Library panel of
media player, which would include track names, duration and album
artwork which is grabbed from an internet (online) service where
available

What actual problem are you experiencing in playback ?
Can you hear any sounds at all within Windows ?
If you insert a CD and press Play, can you hear thay ?

Some people quite like listening to internet radio, such as the
"windows media player" streams on the SomaFM site http://somafm.com/

Once you've ripped some music from CDs, you can copy it back to disk
using the Burn tab. This shows you the music in your library, just
drag the tracks you like to the right-hand panel to form a playlist,
and the Burn CD button should become available.
