| Does sharing music library affect pc memory? Our home pc has 4 user areas. If my husband makes his music library accessible to all 4 of us, does that use up more memory than if he just puts his library into one shared folder? |

Sure, it uses a little more RAM memory on the PC, but it's unrelated to where the library is stored. If you mean he has 4 copies of the library, then media player carries 1 copy of each meda file, but a library database file for each user. The library database is usuallly no more than 1 GB (gigabyte) so unless your husbands disk is desperately small (eg 40-60GB) you should have no problem storing that data. As a typical scenario, a 1GB database may correspond to the data to keep track of around 200,000 music tracks. If you *have* that many music tracks (about 1000GB of data), the odd 1GB library database is small change, really ;-) HTH Cheers - Neil ------------------------------------------------ Digital Media MVP : 2004-2009 http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/mvpfaqs |
