| RE: Film on Demand Services in France I'm just curious; I have no other knowledge of the video-on-demand services in France but I love the idea of having such services. Are those video-on-demand services legal because the French Parliament passed a law saying so or are they a supported and approved service in partnership with the copyright owners? -- Dale Preston MCAD C# MCSE, MCDBA "Andrea" wrote: > Why does Microsoft in France not promote available legal video on demand > services for consumers? |

| RE: Film on Demand Services in France Hi Dale, I have no idea. Until now I have not been able to download a video on demand from an official French web site. Hence, my question. In my mind these services should exist. | Re: Film on Demand Services in France I am guessing that Microsoft and the American-based MPAA, along with broadband Internet providers, are probably working on video-on-demand as well as music-on-demand systems worldwide, including France. I have said many times, just as my own opinion, that in 10 to 20 years, there will be no more CDs, no more DVDs. All content will be pay-per-use just like on-demand systems. Now I have discovered sites like p2pnet.org, and DefectiveByDesign.org and other anti-DRM sites that say that the industry is, in fact, trying to move to a pay-per-use system. Apparently I was right. Unfortunately, you're probably going to get your wish - whether you want it or not. :) My suggestion is buy DVDs when your favorite movie comes out. Find your own way to protect your investment long-term against the future threat of unavailable DVD drives for your PC and your home. Hmmmm.. Maybe I'll stock up on 20 dollar DVD drives and make a fortune selling them to people who can't get them in the future LOL.
