WMP 10 and Windows 2000 Professional

Has anyone used WMP 10 on windows 2000 Professional. The system requirements
specify only windows XP but I have been told that it is possible to use WMP
10 in the 2000 professional platform. I need WMP 10 for syncing my smart
phone music, and although the smart phone tech support says wmp 10 works with
2000 professional, I am hesitant to try it without some further confirmation
that it will work.
Thanks

No, it requires XP with service pack 2 - some of the OS support needed
can't be made to work in Win2000. The last version you can put on 2000
is WMP9. In many cases, that will work fine with the device though.

Re: WMP 10 and Windows 2000 Professional

Thanks Neil: That does answer the question but it doesn't help with the
transfering play lists to the device since the software on the T-mobile MDA
is Windows Media Player 10 Mobile version 10.2 build 14955. This version of
the mobile player in contrast to the mobile player 9 doesn't seem to have a
way of creating a playlist on the device. So the problem I am left with is
that although my media player 9.0 on the pc has playlists, and I can file
transfer mp3 files to the device, I can't seem to get them organized into
play lists. I have successfully queued up files to a "now playing" play
list, I can't make a named play list that stays around. With about a gig of
music on the device storage card, it is a painful process to pick and choose
a couple of hours of playing each time I want to make a reasonable selection.
Do you know if there is a way that I can copy play lists from media player
9.0 to mobile media player 10.0?
Thanks
