Problems when trying to sync recorded TV to a mobile device in Vis

I am trying to sync a TV show that was recorded using Media Center within
Vista Ultimate. The show plays OK in Media Player. But when trying to sync
the show to an Archos A604 device I get an error. The corresponding event in
the Application Event Log is:

Faulting application WMPEnc.exe, version 11.0.6000.6324, time stamp
0x4549b535, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x00000000,
exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x02dfb5ed, process id 0x17e0,
application start time 0x01c72ac491378ace.

I also get a similar error if I try to open the recording using Windows DVD
Maker:

Faulting application DVDMaker.exe, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp
0x4549b5b0, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x00000000,
exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x03bab5ed, process id 0x6e8,
application start time 0x01c72b64413acba5.

I would be grateful for any assistance that can be provided.

RE: Problems when trying to sync recorded TV to a mobile device in Vis

Got sorted - it was a missing codec problem.

What codec was missing?

How did you fix the problem? I am having the same problem, worked fine under XP, but upgraded to Vista and I have the same error as you.
