Can't copy/rip CD tracks in Windows Media Player v9.

Hello,

I am having problems in trying to rip/copy audio CD tracks (English,
original, foreign, etc.). The option is greyed out for copy when right
clicking in Windows Media Player v9.0's media/play list. This is on
Windows 2000 SP4 (all updates).

What's the problem? I tried the help features and none of that worked.
Also, Copy does not seem to find the Palm Treo 680 device using
PocketTunes (not v4) that came with the Palm CD. WMP does see the device
in WMP's devices list via WMP's options, not the copy part. I can't even
copy to HDD!

Re: Can't copy/rip CD tracks in Windows Media Player v9.

On windows 2000, if you go to the Accessories -> Entertainment menu,
you'll still have the old CD Player application installed.

If you start that, can it play any CDs from that drive ? Obviously
this is a simple test to ensure the CD drive is correctly installed in
windows.

Regarding the Treo, it should be showing up as a removable device in
control panel Hardware, when connected - if not, possibly you've
missed out the drivers for windows (or it only came with XP drivers)

Cheers - Neil

Neil, why would this matter? I can play any CDs just fine in WMP9. I
just can't rip the CD audio tracks to files (e.g., WMA).

I see the device listed in WMP's devices list and with Pocket Tunes
running on Treo 680, but not anywhere else.
