WMP 11 & "Auto-Hide the Taskbar"

I just finished "upgrading" to Windows Media Player 11, and within minutes I
noticed a problem.

I have "Auto-Hide the Taskbar" turned on to tidy up my screen, which makes
the taskbar disappear during normal use, and only reappear by moving the
mouse cursor to the bottom edge of the screen. However, this does NOT work
with WMP 11 on the screen. While running WMP 11, the taskbar disappears, but
will NOT reappear by moving the mouse cursor to the bottom edge of the
screen. The taskbar only reappears by minimizing the WMP 11 window, so there
is no way to switch instantly from WMP 11 to another program on the taskbar.

Windows Media Player 11 is the only program I've found that fails to work
properly with Auto-Hide the Taskbar, and it is a Microsoft program! Is there
a way to fix this by changing a setting? If not, will there a "patch" to fix
it?

If there is no way to fix this, then I will be joining the other
disappointed users who are trying to "downgrade" back to WMP 10...

I noticed the problem within seconds, really. Anyway...

Someone posted a reply to someone else's question and said that Ctrl M turns
on the "Classic" menu view, returning some functionality to the program
(while making the Player window look like garbage). The classic view also
allows Auto-Hide the Taskbar to function properly (while making the window
look like garbage). Thanks to whoever that was... but it's still not quite
right.

That didn't last long. Ctrl M didn't really fix it either. I'm not sure why
it looked like it was fixed, but it isn't at all.
