Windows Media Player 10 Is Unable To Stream video After Installing Internet Explorer 7.

I hope someone can help.

I have installed Internet Explorer 7 and all sites that I use for
education content video streaming are still accessible, but when I try
to stream video, I get a message about the embedded player trying to
connect and nothing else happens, and in most cases I get a message
that content cannot be reached.

Can someone hit me with a clue?
I have checked the networking settings in both the player and in
Internet Explorer 7 and nothing unusual there, and there is no
"Automatic" network setting detection checked in Internet Explorer.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Same error

I have encountered the same error after installing IE7. I can't connect to a stream from a computer on my network via WMP. After searching on Google for a while, I still don't have an answer, but maybe someone else does. In the mean time, I'll have to use iTunes.

If only we knew which error you were referring to....

Does the URL to the stream start with "mms://" ?
Try it by changing to http:// or rtsp:// instead

response

The stream I connect to is http. I connect to port 4711. The server is Streamsicle. It was working perfect up until I installed IE7. I thought the problem had something to do with Internet Options > Security > Zone Settings. However, even after disabling the auto-detect intranet, it didn't change anything. The error I get is:

Windows Media Player cannot connect to the server. The server name might not be correct, the server might not be available, or your proxy settings might not be correct.

I can connect to it just fine with iTunes, which rules out the first 2 options.

What are you replying to - there's no context in your post, you seem
to have removed the original question (or reply)
