Vista - Movie Maker preview shows solid green

So .. I can't get any answers on why Movie Maker crashes when adding a video
to the timeline or try to split a video so I tried another computer that has
Vista Ultimate installed on it. I can add the same video to the timeline but
when I try to play it in the preview, all I get is a solid green frame. I
can hear the sound playing and can split the video at random but can't see
anything. I tried recording a short clip in Media Center and the same thing
happens with this video. Any ideas on this one? If I could get either one
working, I'd be happy.

1) In Movie Maker...try going to...Tools / Options /
Compatibility tab and uncheck all the filters.

2) Maybe you have an issue with your video driver.
Try reducing your Graphics Hardware Acceleration
and if it improves the issue you need to update your
video driver.

Windows Vista -
How To Reduce Graphics
Hardware Acceleration

1. Click Start, type personalization
in the Start Search box, and then
click Personalization in the Programs
list.

2. Click Display Settings.

3. Click Advanced Settings.

4. Click the Troubleshooting tab, and
then drag the Hardware Acceleration
slider to the left until it is one notch to
the right of None (the Basic acceleration
setting).

5. Click OK, and then click Close.

6. If you are prompted to restart the
computer, click Yes.

If the problem is improved...reinstall/
update your video driver. If the problem
is not improved...return the acceleration
to Full and seek a different solution.

Good luck.

Re: Vista - Movie Maker preview shows solid green

I was skeptical about updating the video drivers in this system because of
the age of the video card - ATI Radeon 9600. I tried it and it fixed the
problem. Thanks.
