Windows Media Player 11 not seeing music files

I just downloaded the update for windows media player, and it won't allow me
to play some music I have stored on a plug-in USB flash drive. It says that

"Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you are trying to play, burn,
or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file that
has been moved, renamed, or deleted."

but I know that the music files are still on the flash drive, because I was
listening to it right before I got the update! So my music worked with my
older version of WMP, but now it won't. Can someone please tell me why WMP 11
is not seeing the music, and how I can fix it?
