This error comes up EVERY time I try to open WMP. Whether it is a sound or
video file. Also, if I choose the 'webhelp' button, I will get a variety of
error codes and explanations. Of those messages, I have followed the
instructions and found no solutuions are valid OR the error messages are
incorrect (meaning it points to a sound card issue, but the sound works
everywhere else).

Anyone have ideas?

It is a factory installed version of Vista Business running on a 32-bit Dell
Latitude D830.

Any suggestions or thoughts would help. I am not very technically inclined
and don't want to start changing the registry or even installing/uninstalling
"Microsoft" programs (seems they are a package on the computer).
