Browser Media links don't always work

Having exhausted advice from various software companies and sources, I'm
hoping someone out there can help.

I've subbed to MLB.com for years - always was able to click on a live feed
link for MLB.tv or the game audio to watch or listed to a baseball game. A
separate issue has been the "Enlarge this Photo" link you see on many
newpaper pages and web sites. This has all stopped working now. A click
on the link just "does nothing". The same goes for a few other (NOT all)
links within pages that seem to lead to script pages.

Before I noted it was also the photo links that had stopped, I spent time on
the phone with MLB techs. They checked my IE settings, which were fine for
script, etc. They told me it was Symantac's Internet Security. I phoned
them and a nice gentleman in India spent an hour with me, taking over the
computer, changing settings, etc., but to no avail. He also checked out both
IE and Firefox settings, which were set just fine. He said he did not think
it was Symantec, but suggested I uninstall that program, then re-install.
After a Symantec uninstall and re-start, I again tried both IE and Firefox.
Those links just didn't work.

(Yes, my pop up blocker is diabled in the browser)

I did re-install Symantec, put in the right settings to allow www.mlb.com

Yesterday, I got the idea to go into Media Player and make some changes. I
took some advice from MLB and changed the Network settings by unchecking UDP,
clicked on HTTP protocol int he Streaming Protocols section, then "Configure"
and changed the Proxy Setting to "Do not use a Proxy Server". Guess what?
It all worked fine! We watched an archived game.

Later, I decided to watch the Sox game - no link worked again, so no media
player opened up. :>{ This also applied to other links on the page,
such as "previous day's game listings", which usually just open up in that
window. Now this a.m., when I went into our local newspaper and tried to
enlarge a photo, the link was dead. Everything works great for 90% of the
pages and links I open. It just seems to be with media connected links.
(And, I can click on any YouTube link, etc. and it works just fine!!!!!)

Ideas, anyone????
