| sound playback problems My son bought a Dell inspiron 6400, running XP media center. Whenever he tries to play a movie dvd on media player, any music or sound comes through loud and clear, but the dialogue is barely audible. Any help would be appreciated -- Bob S. |

Is there any chance you could fix the driver bug in the Sigmatel audio devices you've been shipping on Vista systems since at least Feburary? http://www.dellcommunity.com/support...thread.id=6860 You can read about the workaround there, which your techies have known about since January this year, but apparently you're still imaging systems form the same source - people purchasing Dell PCs as recently as this week are still getting this problem with the shipped drivers. Searching briefly for this link in this and other windows media newsgroups will convince you that the people here (tip of the iceberg) really need systems shipped which operate properly. The following sample can be considered about 0.01% of users affected for the purposes of comparison : http://groups.google.co.uk/groups/se...c.windowsmedia Please feel free to post in here with any update on when the driver will finally be fixed. | Re: sound playback problems I had already tried that, with no success. The problem exists whether we're playing it through the laptop's speakers, or using an adapter to put the sound through the car's stereo system. Any other suggestions? -- Bob S.
