| WMP 10 & no album info I am copying discs to my computer using 10 but the album info doesn't show up. I of course can manually type the artist info & each track but that is a major pita. Is there a setting I can check to see if 10 is going to the correct website to retrieve the info I need? And a setting so I can fix it if needed? For example: I have 4 Boston cds loaded but the info for only 2 of them shows in the library. I can still play all 4 but it would be much easier to find them in the library. I am using Xp Pro and have lots of memory & storage. |

| RE: WMP 10 & no album info Are you certain that you waited long enough for WMP to identify the CDs? I find it interesting that there have been so many questions about not found CDs lately, though. I understand that Microsoft was dropping the arrangement with AMG and going to a Live Search based CD database. If that has happened you may be out of luck. We all know that Live Search is just about useless. It's worse than MSN search and MSN search was always the worst before. | RE: WMP 10 & no album info Thanks for the reply Dale. And yes I am waiting long enough. At least I think 1-2 minutes per CD is long enough for windows to figure out who made the CD & the track listing. And then come up with a blank listing. And I also find it interesting that so many people are having trouble with info for their CDs. I think that something has been changed in WMP or in windows. Is there any way to look for the info (another source) that we can change in WMP? I don't mind loading all the info manually (if I have to) but it would be nice if afterwards that the CDs would show in the library. Is there a way that I can make the CDs show in the library listing? -- steveO "Dale" wrote: > Are you certain that you waited long enough for WMP to identify the CDs? > > I find it interesting that there have been so many questions about not found > CDs lately, though. | RE: WMP 10 & no album info The Microsoft/AMG online database has never been known for completeness or accuracy. Oh, and I remember now that the change they had announced was that they were going away from AMG and moving to an MTV based database - but probably (just guessing here) still Live Search based search of that database. What I, and several others that I have seen respond on this topic here, do is use Apple iTunes for ripping all my CDs. iTunes uses gracenote.com's CDDB which is, in my personal experience, much more reliable than the Microsoft database. You may find my blog article about online CD databases useful: http://www.dalepreston.com/Blog/2007...databases.html. | RE: WMP 10 & no album info Not sure if this is the same issue, but renaming my local WMP data folder was the fix for me. Read the details here: http://www.davidlenihan.com/2007/07/...usic_coll.html Hope this helps! "Dale" wrote: > The Microsoft/AMG online database has never been known for completeness or > accuracy.
