| Lyra Wireless device and Wireless Home Network im preparing to set up a wireless home network. I will be networking a new computer running Vista premium located upstairs and a computer running XP home downstairs. I have a Lyra wireless device which allows me to play mp3's and streaming audio from my computer on my home stereo system. The Lyra is not supported on Vista, but is on XP. I will connect the Lyra transmitter to the computer running XP (located downstairs), and this should work just fine. However, my hope is that I can control the selection of music using Windows Media Player via my home network from my Vista computer upstairs, so I dont have to run downstairs every time I want to change an album or song. Anyone have any experience with a situation like this, and know whether or not my home network will allow me to do this. Any suggestions, comments, or speculations would be appreciated. |

| RE: Lyra Wireless device and Wireless Home Network Tom, As I understand it, you want to use one WMP installation as a "master controller" for all othe WMP installations on your home network. This will dispappoint you, no that capability you desire does not exist in Windows Media Player. There is another option though, you can use Remote Desktop to access your XP computer from your Vista computer, and you can manipulate Windows Media Player on the XP machine that way. This is the link for XP, you'll need to set some configuration stuff there so that you can remote into the desktop: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...moteintro.mspx This is the link for Vista on how to connect to the XP machine remotely: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...95f841033.mspx -- Thanks!
