Why my windows media player 9 can't play GSM .wav files

Hi everyone!

Why my windows media player 9 can't play GSM .wav files, but older media
players e.g. version 6 and non-MS band media players do(exactly all them can).

It just say that it is playing but can't show up the left time to play.Of
course, the bottom slide bar dont move also.
Can anyone give me some suggestions ? TIA

p.s. sorry for my horrible English
