when i try to plat an mpeg that i have downloaded from a news group i get a
eror message "media player encountered a problem" when i go to web help it
tells me that the error is "COOD11B1" which has to do with sound. i followed
the procedure for fixing the sound problem anyway and still the mpeg will not
play. i have windows media 11 and a yenc decoder so what is the problem?

Hello,
I do not see this problem, but by default WMP can play this movie. as for
your issue, I think there are three reasons:
1, because your mpeg file is demaged,so if it is true, you can only download
it again
2, the mpeg is a container, that is to say it contains frames which maybe
codeced by a different codecs such as Windows Media 9, RM, and so on. So if
you want to play this nomally you must install all the codec that the mpeg
requires
3,Windows Media 9 has some codecs, maybe some of these codecs are demaged,
So I can reinstall them again.

I have exactly the same problem as goofon - I can't play any mpeg files (even
ones that have played before) it gives the same error code and says it's to
do with my sound device - I have updated drivers etc and still can't play
mpegs. The only player that will play mpegs is I-Tunes - anyone know the
problem and a solution?
