Are Separate Libraries possible

I would like to create separate MP3 and WAV Lossless libraries. The reason
for this is that I quickly and easily download mp3's to a card or device and
also, just as quickly and easily burn a lossless CD without having to
convert any files. I experimented with this and wound up with duplicates of
everything in my library. Is there a way to maintain two separate libraries
without the duplicates of songs? I'm using WMP-11 Thanks

Re: Are Separate Libraries possible

I don't believe it's possible to do this for a single user account. As a
workaround, you could consider creating a second user account on your PC. If
you did that, you could use one user account to maintain your MP3 library
and one user account to maintain your lossless library.

Another option (which may or may not meet your specific needs) is to create
two auto playlists in your current library. One auto playlist could be set
up to include only your MP3 files and the other auto playlist could be set
up to include only your lossless files (in this example, you'd be using the
filters "File Type" = "MP3" or "File Type" = "WAV").

For more information about auto playlists, see:

Re: Are Separate Libraries possible

One thing I used to do with WMA lossless vs. WMA VBR in 10 was sort by
Codec.

Unfortunately Microsoft removed the option to view Codec, so I was
constantly hassled with putting lossless files on my Player, which will
first convert to 320 KBps, of lesser quality than all but the oldest VBR
files.

I found that by creating a folder Lossless, ripping it twice, then deleting
the lossless from the library prior to synching took care of it.

Ideally MS would add the option to convert from Lossless to VBR on the fly,
and although that will use the same amount of disk space, for the converted
file, at least you will only have one entry in the library.
