| Tough one: Can't access WMP 11 Online Stores I have WMP 11 v11.0.5721.5145 with XP SP2. I can't access WMP's online stores. None of them show up. I use Kasppersky Internet Security 6.0 and disabling the firewall does not change a thing. Correlated to this problem, I recently purchased songs on palmares.ca, a Canadian Puretracks partner. I was not able to download their DRM licences with the WMA files. I do not know why but I think that both problems are related. I uninstalled and reinstalled WMP. No changes. I am usually pretty good with my PC, but I can't get this one. :-( Help :-) Marathon Max |

| RE: Tough one: Can't access WMP 11 Online Stores Max, Most online stores are geographically filtered, stores available in Japan are not available in the US, etc. Additionally, services that you have subscribed to don't work in all parts of the world even if you can access them as they do IP address filtering for various parts of the service. Where are you located and what is your system locale setting? This may be part of the problem. As for not being able to download the DRM licenses, have you ever downloaded purchased content that has a license on that system? I'm wondering if your system has been "individualized" for DRM content. Try visiting this Microsoft website and see if you can get it to work. http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/...en/indivit.asp -- Thanks! | RE: Tough one: Can't access WMP 11 Online Stores Mike, Tks for your reply. The link you provide does not work! Interestingly, it is the same link that Palmares.ca (Canada's Puretracks partner - that's where I am on thin Planet) provides the same link. I get the following error on the page: Line: 67 Char:13 Error: The parameter is incorrect URL: http://drmlicence.one.microsoft.com/...en/indivit.asp Marathon Max "Mike Poz [MSFT]" wrote: > Max, > > Most online stores are geographically filtered, stores available in Japan > are not available in the US, etc. Additionally, services that you have > subscribed to don't work in all parts of the world even if you can access > them as they do IP address filtering for various parts of the service. > > Where are you located and what is your system locale setting? | RE: Tough one: Can't access WMP 11 Online Stores Hi Max, You're getting a scripting error. Perhaps one of your Internet Explorer security settings are preventing this from working, so if you could go to this website and follow the directions therein, it may resolve your issue: http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#drm This website, while not an official Microsoft construction, was created and is maintained by Zach, one of the people intimately familiar with Windows Media Player and so is always the best place to start when troubleshooting WMP issues. Please let us know here if this corrects the problem you're having. -- Thanks! Mike Poz [MSFT] "Marathon Max" wrote: > Mike, > > Tks for your reply. > > The link you provide does not work! | RE: Tough one: Can't access WMP 11 Online Stores The site you recommended is very interesting. I was able to "resolve" the issue regarding this URL: http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/...en/indivit.asp However, one of the steps required is to backup and restore my DRM files. I DO NOT HAVE THIS OPTION !!! Interesting, no ? "Mike Poz [MSFT]" wrote: > Hi Max, > > You're getting a scripting error. | RE: Tough one: Can't access WMP 11 Online Stores The ability to back-up and restore licenses was removed from WMP 11 because the online stores that sell content don't support license backup. Instead they want you to go through them to get licenses reissued. Sorry if the steps somewhere confused you. I take it that your Windows Media install is completely functional now? -- Thanks!
