| Display tabs on taskbar--default settings? I recently upgraded from Windows Media Player 10 to version 11 and am still investigating all of the different features on this version. When I open the player (just the application, not by opening a file) it automatically displays the Library tab. Is there a setting that allows me to change the default display to the "Now Playing" tab upon launching the application? |

So if you shut down media player in Now Playing then restart it, does it 'remember' where you were ? Please note that any playlist in view when you shut it down disappears from view in WMP11 when it's restarted. I would prefer that it opened on Now Playing, just because I don't make much use of the library and that's how it was on the previous version I had. It's certainly no urgent matter...just an extra click when I open it. Thanks for your help. |

| Re: Display tabs on taskbar--default settings? WMP11 starts in the library by default because you don't have any content preloaded typically and thus Now Playing would be somewhat pointless. To start the player in Now Playing, update your WMP shortcut to be "wmplayer.exe /Task:NowPlaying" -- Speaking for myself only. See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. It wouldn't be pointless if Windows Media Player were to display the fact that it really does remember what you were playing last. And remembering if you were in Sync or in Burn last is not pointless. There is context available to remember in each of those tasks. Dale |
