I can see me lasted version of my movie but when I click on it to edit. it
opens only in media player and I can't edit. The only thing save in My
Videos in the first version I did about one week back. Help! I'm 90% done

Are you saying there's a right-click menu available which has an 'Edit
with moviemaker' option ?

When you go to Moviemaker, and choose File -> Open, that should simply
be the step you need.

I've never noticed that option, which is why I'm curious.

Re: Saving to media player but need to edit in movie maker

Neil-

I appreciate your response. I can better explain what I've done that's
gotten me in this situation. What I've mistakenly done for the last 5 days is
to "save to my computer" on the Movie Task area of Movie Maker. The first
time I saved the movie I used the disc icon on the top menu bar or Control +
S. AFTER that first time I used the Movie Task menu "#3 Finish Movie, Save to
my computer."

Consequently, the last version I saved is the most up-to-date but saving it
this way doesn't allow me to continue my work on this file in Movie Maker. I
can only view it with Media Player.

Is there ANY way that I can save this most current movie that only opens
with Media Player to be able to continue my work on this lastest version of
my movie in Movie Maker? I get the sinking feeling that I have to edit the
last saved option which puts me back to having the movie only 10% completed.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Re: Saving to media player but need to edit in movie maker

Oh, I see. Well, in moviemaker on the File -> Save menu, what actually
is saved is a project file, your working settings and edits and so on.
That menu doesn't output any video, it just saves your "workspace"

If you've output to a movie, then said 'No' to saving changes then
your edits are lost. The WMV movie output should have all the work up
to date as an actual ~video~, but it has no memory of the work you did
to make that video, it just has the final video images

Saving the project file is what you need there.

Perhaps there's a recent items list on the File -> Open menu in
moviemaker, you might find you said "yes" to something when you exited
moviemaker last time, and it saved the settings and edits /
transitions you were working. Worth a check.
