I have a vertical column of dead pixels (locked yellow) that has suddenly
appeared on my laptop LCD.

It is not a problem with the LCD itself or the video card because they are
not visible during the BIOS stage of the boot, or the Windows boot menu.

I have checked the Windows Update history and there were no autmatic updates
applied over the night that this occurred.

I have uninstalled the video card driver, but the column is still visible
using the generic VGA driver.

If I set the resolution to somethign below native (eg. 1024x768) the yellow
line is only visible over the image area, and not the black surronds - again
demonstrating that it is a software not a hardware problem.

Does anybody have any suggestions about how I can try and fix this?
