Directx 10 graphics cards

Hi,

I'm going to get a system in about 3 months with vista on it and NEED a
directx 10 gpu, at current there are only the 8800 serious and unless any
other directx 10 gpus come out within 3 months im gonna have to get 1 of
them, which i don't really want to, id rather get a cheaper one and it has to
be directx 10 card.

Anyone know of any other directx 10 gpus that are coming out??

From what I've heard Nvidia will have some lower priced DX 10 cards out
around March. Rumors are that there will be an 8600 around then but I'm sure
that is subject to change. I'll be upgrading my 6800 when that happens...the
8800 is more than I need or want to spend right now.

Why do you think you NEED a DX 10 card?

Anyway, ATI are supposed to have parts being launched soon enough. I suspect
that if you want to actually be able to find mid-level graphics cards in
good supply from either of the major manufacturers that you'll end up
waiting for most of your 3 months. But that probably isn't a bad thing, let
someone else find out the most obvious problems for you!

So...about as reliable as the National Enquirer quoting Pravda, eh?

Fair enough. Unless you've got money to throw away I'd suggest waiting and
skipping the first generation of DX10 cards. If history is anything to go
by, they'll be comparatively overpriced and underpowered and quickly
replaced.

Re: Directx 10 graphics cards

I don't know if this is old news or new news
I have seen a rumor that NVIDIA will come out with a 8600 card in March
which will have the directx10 support the dsme as their current 8800 card
does.
What other old news do you have?
