I would not be so quick to discount the monitor. Everyone knows that with
electronics if it works for the first week or two, the device will likely
last for a long time. In your case there could be a connection that is
breaking when the heat builds up in the monitor. Yes, flat panel monitors DO
generate some heat.

You did not complain about this happening with your previous monitor so I am
thinking that the problem is indicative of your new monitor.
