| dvd/cdrom had disappeared?? I have just installed vista onto a laptop using the dvd drive, but when it was all installed it hasn't seemed to install the dvd drive as it doesn't appear on my computer or device manager, just wondered if anyone knows a solution, I have tried to do the regedit thing but the files that need deleting aren't even there, want to put xp back on as the network adapter isn't working either as i think that it isn't compatible with Vista but can't seem to do it as when i try rebooting with the cd in the laptop isn't finding it, even when i got to setup to try and change boot default there is no cddvd drive option there -- xcrazysimonex ------------------------------------------------------------------------ xcrazysimonex's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/110269.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-hardware-devices/1205901.htm http://forums.techarena.in |

| Re: dvd/cdrom had disappeared?? Is the DVD drive connected directly to your MOBO or is using a USB interface? Does the drive show up in your BIOS? | Re: dvd/cdrom had disappeared?? | Re: dvd/cdrom had disappeared?? I had the exact same problem! I tried the upperfilters thing, but it's not there. It's like my CD/DVD drive has disappeared! When I plug in a USB external drive, it's fine, but the internal drive will NOT be recognized. I don't know how to monkey with the bios. hm. -- jopolitesse Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

| Re: dvd/cdrom had disappeared?? To get into the BIOS, it's usually either DEL or F2 on startup. If nothing is showing in the BIOS, then either the optical drive is not powered up, the ribbon/sata cable has come out or it has died and gone to optical drive heaven. If you are nervous about the BIOS, check the cables first. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Windows Technologies - Printing & Imaging http://www.coribright.com/windows "jopolitesse" <jopolitesse.3wvt0j@no-mx.forums.vistaheads.com> wrote in message news:jopolitesse.3wvt0j@no-mx.forums.vistaheads.com... > > > I had the exact same problem!
