What is the native resolution of the monitor?
Does the Monitor's manual state that it will take 1920x1080 over HDMI? If
yes does it take either 1920x1080p/60 or 1920x1080i/60 and if using HDMI
which resolution are you trying to send?
If the monitor has a standard VGA PC monitor interface I suggest that you
use it with the native resolution of the monitor.

You've ran into the EDID restrictions. Many tv manufacturers are
providing limited resolutions. Some people are pulling VGA pin 12 that
reads the EDID info allowing a software resolution setup. Please search
Google for EDID info because I have not yet tried it.
