| Vista Backup Can Not Access NAS Hello: I have a Buffalo Linkstation Pro NAS which I am trying to use for Vista native backup. I can see the drive in the backup dialogue, but I am blocked by a challenge for user name and password. I am logged in as administrator without any password assigned to my account. I have tried every combination of user name without success. I can see and access the drive in Windows Explorer. I would greatly appreciate explanation for this challenge and solution when logged in as admin and no password is assigned to account. Thank you -- Rob |

Check with Buffalo for a firmware update. Malke -- MS-MVP Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic! FAQ - http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/#FAQ |

| Re: Vista Backup Can Not Access NAS Thanks Malke. I should have menioned that I have already taken care of that. The firmware has been upgraded. That is why I can see device and access files in Windows Explorer. I am currently in trials with Live One Care, and am now wondering whether this is One Care's method of disabling the native Windows Backup just as it blocks Windows Defender? Any other suggestions? -- Rob "Malke" wrote: > Rob wrote: > > > Hello: > > > > I have a Buffalo Linkstation Pro NAS which I am trying to use for Vista > > native backup. > > > > I can see the drive in the backup dialogue, but I am blocked by a > > challenge > > for user name and password. Well, I would definitely disable Live OneCare since it has a firewall and see what happens. Malke -- MS-MVP Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic! FAQ - http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/#FAQ |
