| PL-2301 USB to USB Bridge Controller Hi I need assistance in installing a USB to USB Bridge cable Description: Windows detected a new device attached to your computer, but could not find the driver software it needs to make the device usable. Each device manufacturer typically includes driver software of a CD that comes with the device, or as a download from its website. The hardware ID of your device is USB\VID_067B&PID_0000&REV_0000. Problem signature: Problem Event Name: PnPDriverNotFound Architecture: x86 Hardware Id: USB\VID_067B&PID_0000&REV_0000 OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 16393 Read our privacy statement: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=50163&clcid=0x0409 Compatibility issue between PL-2301 USB to USB Bridge Controller (EOL) and Windows This problem was caused by a compatibility issue between this version of Windows and PL-2301 USB to USB Bridge Controller (EOL), which was created by Prolific Technology Inc.. | RE: PL-2301 USB to USB Bridge Controller If there is no Driver written for Vista, nothing can be done. A Driver is software program written by the Hardware Manufactuter that allows their product to "talk" with the operating System, and vica versa. | Re: PL-2301 USB to USB Bridge Controller Thanks! I am not in a position to ask for a refund 1. Do we have a generic drivers which I can try? 2. I am OK if the bridge cable works in VMware/MS Virtual PC! Has anyone tried a stunt like this? Thanks "Mick Murphy" <MickMurphy@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:3FE1F0A9-CC73-498E-A7C7-393DD371D0D4@microsoft.com... > If there is no Driver written for Vista, nothing can be done. > A Driver is software program written by the Hardware Manufactuter that > allows their product to "talk" with the operating System, and vica versa. > > Ask Prolific for a refund > -- > Mick Murphy - Qld - Australia > > > "Knowledge Worker" wrote: > >> Hi >> >> I need assistance in installing a USB to USB Bridge cable >> >> Description: >> Windows detected a new device attached to your computer, but could not >> find the driver software it needs to make the device usable. | Re: PL-2301 USB to USB Bridge Controller There is a solution. You can use the compatibility modus. Deinstall the drtiver and software. Before installing again, klick right on the setup file and choose the Compatibility Tab. Check the XP compatibility box. After that right click on the setup file and choose install as Administrator. Then you can instal the program and driver. Do the same on your second pc or laptop. Now you can use the usb-bridge. Some items can have other names, because I use the Dutch version of Vista Ultimate. Please, let me know when it works on your situation. |
