Problems with Microsoft Bluetooth notebook mouse 5000

I have tried everyhting so far and nothing helps. I have installed the
IntelliPoint 6.2 but it doesn´t work. My Sony Vaio Vista recognizes the
devices but I can´t move it or use it at all. When I go to its properties and
click on Buttons the following message appears:
"Some mouse settings might not work until you connect a Microsoft mouse to a
USB port on your computer or set up a Microsoft mouse that uses Bluetooth
technology."
Anyone knows what this is about?
Thanks

Have you read this KB on that mouse?

Re: Problems with Microsoft Bluetooth notebook mouse 5000

Yes i did try that already and nothing. My computer recognizes this mouse,
and tells me that the recognition was succesfully completed, but immediately
afterwards a window pops up saying:
"New Hardware found
Windows needs to install a controller software for unknown device"
And i have three choices, Search and install controller software, Ask me
later, or Don't show this message again. I have tried all but none work. When
I choose the first one (which is the only one that continues my process) it
lasts about 20 seconds when a new window appears saying:
"Windows found a problem while installing the device's controller software.
Windows found a controller software for the device but an error was
encountered while trying to install it."
Then some longer explanation is also in this window saying something about
the device missing a necessary entry.

Thanks for the help anyone!

Re: Problems with Microsoft Bluetooth notebook mouse 5000

just bought this mouse.. had trouble making it work in vista.... but its working fine now.... every button works..!!!

ssuarez .... had same problem ..... when it will ask for driver do this .... (make sure bluetooth is on and mouse it connected!!!)

1. tell it to dont ask me again....
2. goto "device manager" (right click on my computer>manage>device manager) .... search for unknown device.... right click on "unknown device"... choose "update drive" and choose "browse my computer for software driver" ..... then choose "let me pick from a list of device......" .... choose "HID compliant mouse" ..... is there are 2 "hid compliant mouse" try both... try 2nd 1 first. just after choosing 2nd "hid compliant device" my mouse started working!!! good luck.....

Re: Problems with Microsoft Bluetooth notebook mouse 5000

Hi ...
I had exactly the same problem.
Bought the Microsoft Notebook 5000 mice but couldn't get it running due
to a missing driver.
My OS is Vista 32Bit including SP1.
Thus I tried to installl the MS Intelli Mouse tool but still was not
sucessful.

The bluetooth connection seemed to be fine and running correctly since
I had a green task tray saying that my PC sucessfully connected to the
Bluetooth device. But I couldn't find the correct driver.
Moreover I tried to install a driver manually without success.

Then I realized that I have a different Bluetooth driver / manager
installed on my Vista system that came with my PC.
It's called IVT BlueSoleil and overruled the standard Bluetooth tool
coming with windows.

How to fix it:
1. I stop the corresponding service of the IVT BlueSoleil (Bluetooth
Manager)
Just to make sure, that I can deinstall the software
2. Deinstall IVT BlueSoleil
3. Restart
4. Now the Vista Bluetooth Manger should work again.
5. Connect the mice and windows should recongnize the mice perfectly as
HID and it should work!

Hope it helps
Cheers
Stefan

Re: Problems with Microsoft Bluetooth notebook mouse 5000

Topic is a bit old but FINALLY provided the fix for me, thank you!!

After an afternoon of frustration (and the reason why I haven't
installed Win7 yet) I finally found this post. I do not understand why
my afternoon of searching didn't find that KB? Pretty stupid too, why
the hell is the Bluetooth Service turned off?
Whatever, I now have my mouse and will enjoy my Win7 Ultimate RTM!!!
