Canon IS-12 scanner cartridge

Hello,
I have a Canon BJC-85 printer. I have the IS-12 scanner cartridge that
allows you to scan and copy documents. This worked fine with XP. With vista
it does not work. I have tried running the Canon ISScan software in Legacy
mode. I have also tried using the Twain drivers through other scanning
software. I can not get it to work. The Canon site simply says that no
drivers are being released for the scanner on Windows Vista. Is there a way
to modify the drivers? How? What can I do to get the scanner working? Please
help.

Re: Canon IS-12 scanner cartridge

No, you cannot modify the drivers. If Canon is not supporting your printer
in Vista then you are pretty much out of luck. Sorry.

Re: Canon IS-12 scanner cartridge

Hello,

I have the exact same situation. Have you found a fix?

The BJC-85 printer booted up fine and works fine. I have the Vista Home
Premium 64-bit operating system on an HP dv2988nr Notebook PC.

The IS-12 is such a great portable color scanner I hate to give it up.
I have scanned thousands of documents with it on my BJC-85 printer for 8
years now.

I have the original IS-12 disk and get a screen saying it installed
completely. However, Vista does not recognize it and the Vista scanner
installation wizard won't add it.

Hello,
I'm having the same problem getting my new Windows Vista Home
Premium-64 bit operating system to recognize my Canon IS-12 Color
Scanner Cartridge. How do you do that " Win 98 compatibility mode fix
you mentioned"?

Re: Canon IS-12 scanner cartridge

It's probably not going to work with 64 bit Vista. It should work just fine
with 32 bit. The Twain Group does not support 64 bit (The Twain Group is
completely separate organization from Microsoft).

spent several hours looking, appear to be two basic sites for the
software, found searching the string: ISScan_v350.exe got best
results, tho' would like to know any earlier versions to try. CAUTION,
one of the sites (the most popular with the vendors) shows "0" for size
of program. is a dud, not sure what it does.... the others seem to
come from two sites, detectable by the final size -- one 2.7xx meg and
the other 3.48 or so meg.

right clicked on file, went to compatibility tab and changed it to
XP(service2), and also to 2000, and 98, no difference in result.

both installed fine, IS 12 screen came up fine, did whiteness
calibration fine, detected the canon bjc 85 fine, and started the scan
fine. but when just three passes into the scan, announced it had a
program portion missing, and aborted the run. downloaded two versions
(the 2.7 and 3.48), not sure they are actually different, as am tired,
but both same result. you have to uninstall before installing, per what
i have read, tried installing it twain only and running scansoft 11,
which protested the file was corrupt, could not go further, tho'
recognized the canon 85 as the scanner...

any help on other versions?
