Sheraz, did this work? I'm having the same problem with HP and trying
to overwrite Vista with XP.

Please remove all Virus s/w from the drive before you try to install a new
OS.

Re: Install XP: Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer

All new laptops/notebook PC come with a SATA hard drives which XP does not
look for and can't recognize. Check in CMOS if there is a setting to disable
SATA. If not you have to slipstream the laptop specific driver into XP.
Check < nLite >

Re: Install XP: Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer

He can supply the driver (F6 during early text phase in XP and Load Drivers
in Vista). He doesn't have to slipstream the driver although that is
sometimes a useful way to do it.

I would think that once he has it in a USB box, it loses it's PATA / SATA
identity. I've never had a problem just mounting them. But I did have to
do this:

I wish I could simply disable SATA in the bios but my bios does not
give me the option - I'll download nlite
