Vista Wireless Card

The wireless card on my Compaq laptop (Vista) has been working decently until
today. Suddenly, it shows the card as being off. Theres a switch at the front
of the laptop which is the "on/off" button for the wireless card and it is
definitely on "on." Is there another way I might have accidentally disabled
my card? Or any ideas why suddenly it won't work???

Re: Vista Wireless Card

Is it showing in Device Manager? The actual part may have failed. If the
notebook is under guarantee, take it to a Compaq/HP Service Center. If it's
not, probably your best option is to get a PCMCIA Wireless card.

Re: Vista Wireless Card

Go to device Manager and check the properties (advanced, I think) of the
wireless card. Usually there's a software On/Off switch. It may or may not
help. I have similar problems as do others with Thinkpads randomly turning
off the radio. Sometimes a cold restart solves the problem. Also check your
power management settings as they can go crazy and turn off the radio.
