DX10.1 and current graphics cards

Unsure where to post this one....

We have all read the current rumours floating around the web. Does anybody
actually or can confirm or deny that the latest graphics cards (8800 GTX etc)
are compatible with the upcoming DX10.1 release?

I have two on order and while I still have the option would like to cancel
if this is true.

Yes, the 8XXX series of nVidia cards support DirectX 10.

They will "work", however they will not utilize the new features so that may
have a performance or quality impact in DirectX 10.1 games.

I would contact NVIDIA with your question

mouth.

Here's what others are saying:

Hopefully 10.1 will go the way of IBM's MCA. ;0)

Re: DX10.1 and current graphics cards

I guess the good news is that prices have gone down generally for these
luxuries!

Re: DX10.1 and current graphics cards

There is actually very little difference between 10 and 10.1. Currently no
hardware supports 10.1, but you are not missing out on anything.

Stick with your order. By the time 10.1 hardware comes out, 10.5 will be on
the horizon; by the time 10.5 hardware is out, 11.0 will be on the horizon -
you'll be waiting forever for advancements to stop, which of course they
never will.
