Setting AHCI in Bios & Activation

Hi,

I was wondering what the benifits of AHCI mode are. Will the drives work
faster & more efficiently if changed to AHCI. I read somewhere that if the
mode is set to AHCI in BIOS after Vista had been installed and activated that
Vista would require reactivation. Is this correct?

Many thanks
