Format in Word moves when opening using XP

Can someone please assist with why the format moves when l create a Word document using Vista as the OS, which l save as a Word 1997 - 2003 format and when all my friends open it using XP as the OS the whole format moves? All diagrams and content move around.

I have also performed the following steps with no success:

1. Click on 'Office' icon within Word
2. Click on 'Word Options' button
3. Click on 'Save' from left hand nav menu
4. Check all the boxes under the 'Preserve fidelity when sharing this document'
5. click 'OK'

Does anyone have any other steps/ideas l could try.

Many thanks
