Microsoft Works 8.5 and Vista - Technology Questions

Microsoft Works 8.5 and Vista

I just installed Microsoft Works 8.5 in my Vista system. Installation was fine, but when I try to put a database on my desktop it either disappears or comes out as gibberish. Will this work with Vista, or do I need some other version of Works?
