I have an inconsistent issue when I attempt to wake the tablet PC from hibernation. The screen I *should* see is the XP login screen. However, sometimes the only thing that comes up is the generic TIP for the login screen, the background is black. If I rotate the screen (in an attempt to force it to refresh) only the TIP moves around and the background stays black. The only way I can get back to the login is to reboot.

Has anyone else run into this problem?

I'm contemplating upgrading to the SP2 Beta but I'm a little concerned about installing it being as it's still in Beta.

Which model Tablet PC do you have? It sounds like it could be a power management or BIOS issue.

Oh, I see - you said in a previous post you have an Acer C111TCI-G. When the system first starts you can look at the POST screen to see the BIOS version. Which version is installed? Put the power management settings back to default. One last question - does it happen when you resume on battery and AC power or just battery?

To be honest, it happens so inconsistently I don't remember if it was on AC or battery. Even though I changed the power management settings to my liking, it had done this before I made those changes.

It's not a very annoying problem, to be honest. The only time it really got to me was when I had just sat down for a meeting and flipped on the tablet and I had to reboot it even though I had set it in Hibernation. This put me a little behind the meeting and I had to catch up on notes. But, it's a computer and I know they're not perfect.

For now, I'm just placing it in Stand By mode when I'm at work and drop it into Hibernation when I'm getting ready to go home (which is probably the best way to do it in the first place.) I downloaded and installed XPSP2 yesterday and may test it out a bit today.
