Cannot standby or hibernate no matter what I do - Toshiba M205-S810
I have been able to go into Standby and Hibernate for the past two years. About two weeks ago, I am not certain exactly what date, I installed some software and had updates from Windows and then I could not go into Standby any more. For the life of me I have not been able to find out what is causing the items to be disabled both in the Toshiba Power Saver utility under the Control Panel and also in the Logon Screen.
I upgraded the NVIDIA graphics driver and that doesn't seem to be it. I upgraded the Intel ProSet wireless drivers and that didn't do it. I unplugged the USB keyboard and also tried turning off the Bluetooth Radio, also I don't have any PCMCIA cards plugged in, though I did install software that uses a PCMCIA card for GPIB communication to a test equipment. I suspect something having to do with that PCMCIA card software driver that will not let the PC go into standby or hibernate because the card is an older version card made before 1999.
How do I troubleshoot this? Is there a utility to tell me exactly what is causing the STandby feature to be disabled?
