Does anyone know how to do this.

I am new to forums but not installing XP. This post comes from my many attempts to load XP Tablet Edition 2005 on a Portege 3500 with no success.

I have tried:

Partition the 40gb drive into 2 fat32 partitions (roughly equal) and used the 1st partion to load windows 95.
95 loaded easily and so (using USB to 2.5 IDE) I loaded i386 and other files to the 2nd partition where i used the winnt32.exe file which began perectly. All the necassary files were loaded but just at the point where it finishes "starting windows" , i get the "Blue Screen of DEATH" with the error code 0x0000000a.

I tried the same process from a win98 startup disc, search for the winnt.exe (dos file) and tried the process witht the same result.

I got an IDE to USB adapter and gambled that a cd or dvd drive would be compatible with the USB boot option of the portege and that proved the easiest bit of all.

I select "boot from cd" and followed the usual prompts but..... yes, you guessed it. 0x0000000a or perhaps the 7b version!!

It would appear to be a conflict of some sort with the hdd controller or am i being an idiot. I can install XP Tablet on an ordinary latop easily.

I won't say anymore in case there is an obvious solution and i'm rambling for nothing.
If there IS an obvious solution then please share it with me as (my wife will confim) I can't afford to lose any more hair by tearing it out as I'm going bald already!!!!!!!!
