Unhappy Help my TIP Display doesn't transfer the ink into a document

Ever since I uploaded SP2 from Microsoft, the display of my input panel changed. I no longer have the advance feature in the display to be able to "undock it". When I open it, it docks at the bottom of my screen and when I want to use the ink capabilities the "insert" button no longer includes "insert as Ink or Insert as text" options. I am desparate, as I no longer can open a word document and insert my signature. It will transfer it as text only. I have a Compaq Tablet PC TC1000. The Tablet PC Input Pane is version 1.7.2600.2180. I have contacted Compaq who directed me to Microsoft, who were totally unable to help. The only option given to me was to reinstall Microsoft WIndows XP tablet edition on my computer. However, I would have to back up everything in my computer, which I have no time for right now. I have also tried the following: going into control pane, into regional and language options, selecting the languages tab. However, when I want to add the Advanced Text SErvices with subentries of Ink Connection, Tablet PC Connection, Tablet PC Connection for Windows Journal and Tablet PC Test Insertion, none of these are available to add. Please HELP ME!!

Try Windows Journal

If you can open Windows Journal, make your signature, click to lasso and select your signature, then copy and paste into Word. You can also paste into paint and save your signature for later use.

Thanks, tried it and the lasso doesn't work either. It will transfer as text only.

Really strange now. Have you upgraded your office suite to SP3? I have noticed some problems using Windows SP2 without updating to Office SP3. Most of them were in Access, but I did not wait long before I upgraded office.

When you say the lasso does not work, does it paste into Paint as a picture?

Somethink else just occurred to me. Since you did the SP2 upgrade, did you do the Microsoft Office XP Pack for Tablet PC (Tablet Pack) upgrede?

Here is the link to Microsoft's download site.

Tablet PC SP2 vs SP3 for Ink transfer

Thanks David, I will try your advice and let you know what happened. I have now backed up my laptop, to leave as a last resource to back track and clean it up and start over. However, if I do that, should I again download SP2 or go straight ot SP3?

First add Windows XP SP2, then Office XP SP3, then Office XP Tablet Pack. Good luck.
