writing pad not available for the input language selected

Just installed sp2 and can't use neither the character pad nor the writing pad.
Says "writing pad not available for the input language selected." I have ensured that region/language settings in control panel are all set to English US, with ink correction, TPC correction, text insertion, etc all listed. Does anyone know what I'm overlooking? Please help, 'cause I'm stumped!

Thanks!
M~

TIP Problems

Sorry to read that your SP2 installation didn't go well. Here are a few suggestions.

Uninstall the SP2, defrag the hard drive and then install the enu english file that you can download from Microsoft. After the installation then defrag the hard drive again. You'll want to restart the machine a few times.

Note: Make sure that you don't have other applications open when you do the installation - especially virus and spyware checkers.

Please let us know if this works for you.

Thumbs up Answer

I had the same issue, but I am the one that caused it. Here is what you do to fix it.

go to the control panel -> Choose regional and Language Options, hit the Languages Tab, Hit the Details button, Hit the advanced tab, Click the Extend support of advanced text services to all programs check box. Then hit apply and ok until you are out. I think it actually reboot my box at this time.
