| Toshiba m200: dead without a cd drive to boot!!!?? hi there, i am in dire need of some help, just purchased a toshiba m200 tablet and i was using a backup program to try and copy all my docs from another laptop over, and accidently chose to replace the "volume"... In so doing, a few of the windows files i think were deleted before I realized i had chosen the wrong option. Second mistake was in trying to use system restore to get back to original settings (assuming this would recover deleted files): wrong! So, now when i try to boot up i get the following error messages: PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent NTLDR is missing Press Alt + Ctrl + Del to restart I didn't choose to buy the toshiba external cd drive, and my megastor external cd drive isn't recognized when i try to boot from it. Other than coughing up $500 for toshiba's external drive, is there anything that can be done to get up and running (to boot up)? Can i not use an SD card to boot or load the missing files, or boot from a network...? Is there no way to correct this system restore, or enter into safe mode? I cannot understand how toshiba would make a machine that can only be restored with restore cds using ONLY its exhorbitantly priced external cd drive. thanks, mike |

| Error: PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable. PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel® ROM This means there isn't a bootable partition on any of the available devices. This message comes from the BIOS setting with the last option is Intel® UNDI PXE 2.0. The NTLDR is missing states the following files are missing. Ntldr Ntdetect.com Boot.ini Ntbootdd.sys You might try to boot off a Linux distribution (such as Knoppix) and then copy the files over to the Windows partition. Another option is to build your own bootable CD. Good luck

| thanks for the reply, the problem with the creating a bootable cd idea is that it seems (and toshiba tech support has confirmed) that ONLY a toshiba external cd drive will work before i get into windows, so that means without that drive, i don't seem to have any option of booting from a cd... what options does that leave me??? :ermm: |

| Bootable Drives Try the toshiba forums at Tabletpcbuzz.com. There are many drives <$150 that will boot the M200 and ways to make a boot SD card that will run different CD's. Although the boot card needs to be created before the problem.... I cant load Tabbuzz right now or I'd link you directly. Linuxmon |
