Question Slow shutdown & necessary processes

After the first few weeks of using my Tablet (Toshiba M205-S10) I find that the shutdown time has gotten slower and slower. I am interested in speeding it up to where it used to be. I may have added a piece of software that causes too many processes to be running or deleted a key item. How can I find out which processes are necessary to have running in the background? At last count, I had about 70 -- which seems like a huge overload. I'm not a computer tech-type, so please make your suggestions very, very simple to understand!

Thanks

Just by chance ...

Do you have a virus checker loaded? There are many viruses on the net that your machine can catch and cause slowdowns.

Have you checked for spyware? Make sure your machine is not being hijacked and running processes that take up valuable cycles.

Let us know.

By the way, you can press ctrl-alt-del to load the Windows Task Manager. This will give you a clue to the processes being run on your machine.

Thank you

In answer to your questions:

1. Virus checker is on & updated (Norton)

2. I have AdAware, SpyBot & Zone Alarm Pro installed & running

3. I just checked the Task Mgr & there are 70 proceses running. Is this normal?
