Tablet input panel won't open

Major glitch! I tap on the taskbar icon of the tablet input panel and it won't open. I tried rebooting. I looked over control panel and I can't find anything that will allow it to open. Now I can't access handwriting, virtual keyboard or speech. How did I mess this up already? How can I get it back?

Gestures

Try to use the gesture (quickly slide pen across the desktop) and see if it will launch the TIP.

Let us know.

tip panel

I found this info; see if it works. The second command is the one you want to try. type as one line.
I wrote the TipBand, so I'm offended that you want to turn it off. ;)

But you can do it - go to a command prompt and unregister the dll:

***this is one continuous line***

regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\common files\microsoft\
shared\ink\tipband.dll"

Then, next time you start up your machine, the TipBand shouldn't show up.

After you do this, of course, the only way you'll be able to get the Tablet
PC Input Panel to show up is with the hardware button or with the shake
gesture. So do this at your own risk... To get it back, the command is:

***this is one continuous line***

regsvr32 "c:\program files\common files\microsoft\
shared\ink\tipband.dll"

I hope this helps!

No, No don't be offended. I don't want to turn it off. The icon to open the tablet interface WOULD NOT open the window. I did a system restore to get it back. It made me nervous because I can't find the external disc drive, so if I lost my newly installed Microsoft office student, I'd be sunk. Anyone see a dvd/cdrw lying around?

I will try the trip from Layne, next time this happens. It bugs me not knowing what went wrong the first time. I have the book: How to do everything with your tablet. I did not think to check in there.
